The Canadian architecture, engineering, construction, and manufacturing (AEC&M) industries have long awaited this milestone — Autodesk has officially expanded its regional cloud offerings to include Canada.
For the first time, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and Autodesk Docs customers can store project data at rest on Canadian-based servers, helping organizations meet data residency compliance, boost performance, and build trust in projects with the highest security standards.
For Canadian organizations — especially in government infrastructure, healthcare, utilities, and other regulated sectors — this change removes one of the biggest barriers to adopting Autodesk’s cloud collaboration tools and paves the way for more efficient, connected project delivery.
In August 2025, Autodesk announced that Canada had joined its network of regional data storage locations (Autodesk Newsroom – Expanded Regional Offerings).
Hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), the Canadian region delivers:
Enterprise-grade security
High availability
Alignment with Canadian regulatory requirements
This regional expansion gives customers greater control over where their project data resides — an essential capability for organizations bound by public sector rules or industry-specific compliance requirements.
Not every Autodesk Construction Cloud service is currently hosted in Canada.

A key point in Autodesk’s rollout is the difference between data residency and data localization:
Data Residency: All data at rest is stored in Canada.
Data Localization: Both storage and compute processes remain in Canada.
Currently, Autodesk guarantees data residency for supported services in Canada. Some compute processes may still occur outside the country depending on the service. Full localization is under consideration.
As outlined in the Autodesk Webinar: Canada Regional Data Storage, here’s how to create a Canadian hub:
Contract Manager Access – Only the Autodesk Contract Manager can create a Canadian hub.
Enterprise Customers – EBA clients must coordinate with their Autodesk account team.
Steps to Create a Hub:
Log into manage.autodesk.com
Go to Products & Services → Hubs
Select Create Hub and choose Canada as your region
Use unique hub names to avoid sync issues
All new projects in the hub will default to Canadian storage
While you can collaborate across regions, Autodesk recommends:
Using the Bridge tool for linking projects across regions (best if all are in the same region).
Using the Handover tool to transfer data between regions (requires Autodesk Build, not yet in Canada).
Standardizing on one region per project to avoid workflow issues.
Projects created in other regions (e.g., the U.S.) will not automatically migrate to your Canadian hub.
Manual migration is required using Autodesk Platform Services (APS) or third-party tools.
The Autodesk Replication Tool (ART) is expected to support Canadian hosting in the future, but does not yet.
