If your team has been using Autodesk’s VDC Bundle, there's an important shift you should know about. As of July 7, 2025, Autodesk has rolled out a major update: all VDC Bundle users have been transitioned to the Model Management Bundle—a more comprehensive and integrated solution built to support the full construction and operations lifecycle.
This change reflects Autodesk’s broader strategy to unify desktop and cloud workflows, simplify access, and deliver more value through bundled capabilities. For both Owner-Operators and General Contractors, this evolution opens the door to better model coordination, stronger project controls, and more accurate data handover.
What’s Changed?
Autodesk is retiring the standalone BIM Collaborate (Model Coordination) product and the broader VDC Bundle. Going forward, cloud-based model coordination will only be accessible in one of two ways:
-
Through a Model Management Bundle subscription
-
Through a single-user Navisworks Manage license
It’s important to note that Navisworks included in the AEC Collection does not include access to ACC-based model coordination. This means that teams relying solely on AEC Collection will not benefit from the new connected workflows between Revit, ACC, and Navisworks.
To solve this, Autodesk has bundled Navisworks Manage and ReCap Pro—alongside other powerful tools like Tandem, Assemble, and Autodesk Docs—into one offering. This creates a fully integrated solution that bridges the gap between design, construction, and ongoing operations.
What’s Included in the Model Management Bundle?
This all-in-one package gives your team access to both cloud and desktop tools, supporting a connected, streamlined workflow from design through operations:
Tool | Functionality Highlights |
---|---|
Navisworks Manage | Advanced clash detection, 4D/5D simulations, aggregated model reviews |
ReCap Pro | Convert site scans into 3D models; verify as-built vs. as-designed conditions |
Assemble | Condition models for preconstruction, estimating, and scheduling |
Autodesk Docs | Central file management with permissions and versioning |
Tandem for AEC | Create and deliver digital twins for facilities and operations teams |
Model Coordination (BIM Collaborate) | Cloud-based clash detection and issue tracking with full Revit/Navisworks integration |
How General Contractors Can Strengthen Coordination and Control
For large General Contractors, the transition to the Model Management Bundle unlocks a more powerful and unified coordination environment.
By combining Navisworks’ technical depth with ACC’s cloud flexibility, teams can manage project complexity more effectively—from early clash detection to on-site issue resolution. The result is faster decision-making, fewer coordination errors, and stronger communication across disciplines and subcontractors.
The bundle also streamlines workflows between estimating, scheduling, and coordination through tools like Assemble and ReCap Pro—allowing GCs to condition models for takeoff, validate as-built accuracy, and plan more confidently across project stages.
In short, this bundle enables project teams to move from model reviews in isolation to truly connected model management, backed by real-time data and multi-format file aggregation.
Supporting Owners & Operators Beyond Construction
Owner-Operators managing large, complex assets—whether hospitals, transit infrastructure, or commercial real estate—will find the new bundle particularly impactful in the transition from construction to long-term operations.
Using tools like Tandem for AEC, teams can build accurate digital twins that mirror real-world conditions. These can be updated and maintained over time, offering a more sustainable, data-driven way to manage facilities. With ReCap Pro, site scans can be integrated directly into design and coordination workflows to reduce guesswork and enable accurate as-built documentation.
This type of continuity in data—from initial coordination through handover—improves transparency, reduces asset onboarding costs, and positions Owners to make better-informed decisions for years to come.
More Value, Less Complexity
Autodesk’s shift to the Model Management Bundle introduces several key benefits that align with both operational efficiency and strategic planning:
-
One predictable cost – A flat subscription cost eliminates variability and simplifies budgeting.
-
Unlimited user access – Scale your team without worrying about per-seat licensing.
-
Consolidated tech stack – Reduce overlapping tools and centralize workflows.
-
Integrated workflows – Enable smoother collaboration between design, coordination, construction, and operations teams.
This is not just a licensing change—it’s a move toward a more unified, intelligent, and scalable model management approach.
What to Do Next
Whether you’re responsible for VDC implementation, overseeing coordination teams, or managing long-term building assets, now’s the time to reassess how your teams are using Autodesk tools:
-
Watch the official Autodesk demo to see how the bundle works in practice
-
Connect with SolidCAD for a tailored consultation to ensure your workflows are aligned
-
Review your current tech stack to identify duplication, gaps, or training needs
SolidCAD is here to help you navigate these changes and take full advantage of what’s now available. If your goal is to streamline construction workflows or prepare your assets for long-term digital operations, the Model Management
Bundle is your opportunity to do it—better and faster.
